Jaw joint problems / Jaw cracking
All complaints that can arise in the area of the jaw joints are referred to as jaw joint problems. They always occur when a jaw joint can no longer move easily in the joint capsule. A common cause of temporomandibular joint problems is a poor clenching of the upper and lower jaw, but can also be caused by rheumatological causes such as arthritis.
In addition to irritation and inflammation of the joints, jaw joint problems lead to a number of other complaints such as:
- Recession of the gums
- Head and neck pain
- Restricted mouth opening
- Teeth grinding (bruxism)
- Tinnitus
- Tooth misalignment
In addition, for example, cracking noises can occur when chewing, which is often the first noticed symptom of temporomandibular joint problems.
