Correction of the labial frenulum
The labial frenulum is located between the upper lip and the front incisors. If it sets in very deeply, a permanent tooth gap can form, which is often not only perceived as aesthetically unattractive, but can also lead to unclear pronunciation, especially in children.
The lip band is corrected through a minor surgical procedure. In children, the procedure should only be performed once the lateral incisors have erupted. The gap between the teeth should close over the course of about three months. A subsequent orthodontic correction of the tooth gap is necessary in adults in the vast majority of cases, but only in individual cases in children.
